NoBAD Theatre Co.

Sydney’s Northern Beaches are home to a wealth of creative people. NoBAD Theatre aims to tap into existing expertise, combine it with emerging talent, and produce community theatre that is vibrant and exciting.

And we want you to be a part of it!

NoBAD Theatre is a Not For Profit community theatre group. Our inaugural production, the premiere of The Waiting Room, a new Australian play, will be presented at the Mona Vale Performance Space from 21st – 24th October. The cast of eight are locally based actors, whose past credits span Hollywood movies, American and Australian TV, and Australian theatre. All involved are offering their services for free. Our hope is that our first production will return a surplus that can be ploughed back into the group, helping to establish NoBAD Theatre as an ongoing presence on the northern beaches, producing memorable plays, lasting friendships and opportunities for performers, creatives and theatre lovers alike.

The Waiting Room

70 old widower Frank is dying, surrounded by his nearest and dearest. Well, nearest, perhaps not dearest. His four adult offspring come from near and far to be at his bedside as he slips out of this life and into… whatever’s next. Frank is a silent witness as he lies in a coma at home, the house in which he and his wife raised their kids, and which will form the lion’s share of his estate when he dies. Will Frank’s death bring the siblings closer together, or could the terms of his will tear them apart?

The Waiting Room is a thoughtful comedy about life, death, and the joy and pain of being a family.

If you are a northern beaches local and would like to be involved in this production, we want to hear from you! We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to fill backstage roles in Stage Management, Set Design and Construction, Sound, Lighting, Costumes, Hair and Make Up, Props, Press and Publicity (especially Social Media), and House Management. Previous experience is a plus but is not necessary.

Anyone over the age of 16 is welcome to apply.

It takes a village to raise a child; it takes a community to stage a play. Come join ours!

If you would like to, please fill out the form below, detailing which department you would like to join and what you could bring to the production:
